Island Hotel Room 36

Our stay was ok, but not great. There was no TV in our room. An extra charge was made to my credit card, before we even checked in, with no explanation as to what it was for. Staff was no help.

My wife and I had not visited Cedar Key since Hurricane Helene hit it in 2024. While it was sad to see the destruction, it was heartening to witness the resilience of this community. Construction continues to rebuild, shops are open, and good food with great service welcomed us. The Island Hotel is no stranger to the ups and downs of Cedar Key's history. Established in 1859, it has survived the Civil War, economic depressions, and weather-related disasters. We enjoyed our stay in the hotel. The creaky floors (with a bit of a slant and slope to them) reminded us of the years it has withstood. Or were the creaks whispers from the ghosts? 😏😁 We enjoyed sitting on the veranda with its view of the waterfront. And the staff was helpful and cordial.

First, this is a good review in spite of what I am going to say in the next paragraph. We would absolutely stay there again. The hotel is very old, founded in 1859--"Old Florida". Awesome!! The staff was terrific and truly helped us and made our stay there very smooth. The restaurant and bar were awesome!! Overall, terrific ambience!! I simple want to point out a few things that are not provided that are typically expected at a hotel. However, remember, this is "Old Florida" and it makes sense that the hotel doesn't offer everything. What are they missing? No TV in the room, no A/C controls (although the room temperature was very good), no hair dryer, no tissues in the room. I only point these things out for people to understand what to expect. We LOVED the hotel and location. Again, we fully intend on staying there again in the future. Thank you for a very nice stay!!

Truly enjoyed my recent stay at the Island Hotel. Clean room, comfy bed, hospitable service, and the in-house Restaurant was absolutely delicious & top-notch. I would highly recommend this Hotel and its Restaurant to anyone looking to spend some quality time in Cedar Key. Two Thumbs way up!!

Unfortunately the bed was so high and my husband has a bad back so it was a bit of a challenge to get in the bed and out. The restaurant was said to be fine dining, yet the steak was so under cooked and had a lot of grizzle and the restaurant was extremely loud.
