Historic hotel that is charming and clean, with kind and professional management. Positive: Extremely friendly management. Very old hotel that is very well maintained and comfortable. Negative: Only wished I could have stayed longer

Beautiful area along the Gulf of America Positive: Great front veranda with a big swing and comfortable chairs. Negative: Had a bit of a room mix up. Reserved one but was given a different on with a bathroom across the hall neat an outer door that was not to be locked at night. I didn’t feel safe. When I asked to be given the room I reserved the started talking about an up charge, but it was resolved in the end and we were move to the proper room without an additional charge.

We decided to visit Cedar Key knowing that it was impacted by last year's hurricanes. The Island Hotel was an excellent choice and seems to be at the center of Cedar Key activity. It may not be a great choice for those who are looking for world standard five star type places, but for those who appreciate history and unique stays, it delivers. While there we visited a nice bakery and ate at 2nd Street Bistro/Steamers Restaurant (excellent seafood at very reasonable prices), both only feet away. There were several other establishments we didn't make it to, so our one night stay should have been longer.

Great stay . Loved the area . One note . Make sure you use the bug spray if sitting outside in eve . Got eaten alive by the no see ums !

The staff was very welcoming and helpful. We ate dinner at the restaurant which was excellent. First time in Cedar Key and we were pleasantly amazed. We will come back.
