Loved the history, the story behind the hotel, the decor and artifacts and location to everything.
Positive: We were traveling home after spending time in the Panhandle and are so happy we did! Can't wait to visit Cedar Key again and stay in the same hotel. Everyone was so friendly and we absolutely loved the hotel and our room. The shower was fantastic and the bed was so comfortable!
Negative: It was a Sunday when we arrived, and we got in late. The only downside to our stay is that the bar and restaurant closed early and so we missed dinner and drinks, and everything was closed on Monday. Menu looked fantastic - can't wait to visit again and try out the restaurant!

Love This Place!
The Island Hotel at Cedar Key is quaint, iconic, and a great experience. The owners and staff are the best! The dining and bar area are so very special. Yes, the Hotel is an older building, and the overall amenities are few, but for getting to experience "Old Florida" in this fashion is an experience that you will remember for a long time! We will stay there next time we go to Cedar Key!

Worst Ever
Island hotel was the worst experience I have ever had. The stairs going up to the second floor were so dark and the carpeting was brown and you could not see to climb these very steep stairs. A room had an 8 inch step up to the toilet and to the shower with no handrails to help you navigate this. My husband and I are elderly and have disabilities, but we knew it was on the second floor. We didn’t know it would be this awful.
The bed we slept in was broken, and when we rolled over in bed together, it was like a clamshell closing. We left a day early and requested that we be refunded our money for the night. We didn’t stay due to any lack of ADA requirements in the hotel.
We were denied any kind of refund stating because they were historic. They didn’t need to comply with any kind of ADA requirements.
Thankfully, I use my American Express card to book this. I disputed the night stay with American Express and they were able to get me a refund for the night that I’d pay for and I did Not stay.
This historic hotel needs to be retired into the history books as it is not user-friendly, nor was the staff accommodating. Please do not go and save yourself a miserable experience.

Lots of charm and character. Perfect setting in an old fishing village. Missing some modern features found in most newer hotels, if that's important to you. But everything that is needed for a short stay is provided at a very reasonable cost.

The owners friendly, affable people who make serious efforts to make the location a place guests want to revisit.
Positive: Beautiful old building with great character. Both bar and dining are terrific settings.
Negative: Noises from other guests take some getting used to…
